LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Will Bring the Most 'Alive and Rich' LEGO World Ever

According to the head of the development team at TT Games, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be the most "alive and rich" world the company has ever created.
Fans will need to wait until 2026 to experience this game, but some big names have hinted that it will be well worth the wait.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight's Gotham City
Fans first got a glimpse of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight during the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase on August 19.
Alongside the game's reveal trailer, the event featured an appearance by Jonathan Smith, head of development at TT Games, who described the upcoming title as "the definitive essential Batman story." Legacy of the Dark Knight will follow Bruce Wayne's journey from childhood trauma through the character's more than eight decades of lore from comics, movies, television shows, and games.

Next LEGO Batman Game's Gotham Will Be Deeply Immersive
Just over a month after its initial reveal, Smith is once again promoting the game, this time alongside big names like DC legends James Gunn and Jim Lee in a new developer diary-style video shared by Warner Bros.
Games. Since releasing their first LEGO game in 2005, TT Games and its subsidiary, Traveler's Tales, have become synonymous with LEGO video games, developing more than 20 titles across franchises like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and superheroes from both Marvel and DC. Despite their past successes, Smith's comments in the new video reflect his belief that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight's world will be more fulfilling than any other game he has worked on.

Reports following the game's reveal indicated that the next LEGO Batman game will feature a larger open world than Arkham Knight, and developers have confirmed that this will not be a bland, empty space.
Multiple team members featured in the new video have discussed the level of detail in Gotham City, including realistic rain droplets running down LEGO characters' plastic bodies and the intricate weave patterns of their cloth capes. On a broader scale, they have aimed to create an evolving city, where gangs of criminals will learn to take the upper hand against heroes and include numerous callbacks to classic Batman moments.
