These are the new Google Photos and Maps icons with a gradient redesign

Google is changing its logos to show it's moving into the AI era. The company has already updated the G and Gemini icons, and now it's sharing a look at the new gradient designs for Google Photos and Maps. In May, the Google (Search) app got a new icon that replaced its four solid color sections with a gradient. A month later, the Gemini Spark got the same update . This September,

Google shared more about why it's using gradient icons: "While keeping the iconic four colors, the brighter hues and gradient design show the growing AI-driven innovation and creative energy in our products and technology."The new gradient G now stands for all of Google, including the brand and

company. The company also said it plans to update more products, platforms, and services with this design in the coming months.Google Maps and Photos are next in line for the update. A source shared the new gradient icons today.
The new Google Maps icon is still a pin, but it's been made thinner and more modern. The inner circle is now bigger, and the diagonal blue sections have been removed. This change reflects how Gemini is used in place listings.
The Google Photos icon keeps the same shape, but it now has a gradient that starts from the center and moves outward. When enlarged, the inner part looks a bit transparent, but it should still work well as a small app icon on your home screen.
Google Photos has features like Remix, photo-to-video (Veo) creation, conversational editing, and Gemini-powered "Ask Photos." Nano Banana is also coming to Google Photos. It's not clear when these new icons will launch, but it could be soon, especially since many AI features are already available.
